It is so dangerous to cycle between Watchet, Washford, Blue Anchor and Carhampton. My children loved cycling when they were younger, but could only ride down the mineral line and back as the A39 is horrendous for cycling. This path would not only improve safety but also promote a healthier lifestyle and keep traffic of the roads. I would definitely use it frequently for walking and cycling. The other benefits are obviously attracting much needed tourism.

The new path is an excellent idea on so many levels; health, cycle safety, tourism, encouraging exercise.... As an experienced cyclist and resident of Blue Anchor, the path would be a superb facility for access to Minehead, without having to "battle" the traffic on the A39, and, hopefully, in due course, across to Watchet and Williton. I have seen first hand what a fantastic resource such paths can be to both locals and tourists alike, when I have, like so many others, ridden the Tarka and Camel trails here in the South West, and other similar trails elsewhere across the country. Good luck with the path.

Increased access to coastline and views - provides safe and level route away from the narrow and dangerous alternative roads - encourages cycle use and regular exercise - increases sense of well being.

Because of the difficulty of cycling from Blue Anchor to Minehead up a very steep and dangerous hill. This would encourage local people and visitors to take part in a healthy activity that will enhance the local economy for Blue Anchor, Minehead and the whole of West Somerset. How long will it be before a cyclist gets killed on the road from Blue Anchor to Carhampton.

I commute to work on a bike from watchet to Minehead, this path will be useful in keeping me alive. I have had several near misses, and been knocked of my bike by bus... I am a sensible rider and ridden for years. the A39 is a dangerous road. any way to keep of the road on some where scenic too :-) winner!

Great name, great idea! If there's one thing that can help our local economy more than anything else it would be to extend the Steam Coast Trail as far as it can possibly go! A fantastic resource for locals and a great draw for tourism, the Steam Coast Trail is the coolest concept since cream tea.

We cycle a great deal and love that area -  it would be fantastic to explore it safely as a family - a real tourist bonus too for North Somerset coast

Any additional traffic free cycle routes can only be a good thing. If it was from Taunton to Minehead that would be amazing!

This path will provide a safe and beautiful link between rural villages, allowing the beauty and nature to be enjoyed by those able and those otherwise unable if the path were not created for such use.

It will provide a safe route for our children to enjoy the wonderful coast through this area.

I do feel this is long over due. I love walking, it is a great form of exercise and a way to de-stress. When my children were younger I found walking an excellent way of have family time together, combined with excellent learning opportunity. I also enjoy cycling and would very much like safer routes available. This is also a great family adventure, if the routes are safe. I do feel extending the coastal path would be good for the Somerset economy.

Safe cycle route from Watchet to Minehead. Good for tourism. Will encourage local kids to cycle and use the beach. Quick route to Minehead.
